Can you tell me what your organisation does?
Be Still for mind and body is an organisation which offers mental and physical wellbeing services to help relax and reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety to our clients. We offer sessions to support this, such as: yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and complementary therapies to explore and find what is right for you.
We came together through our passion to help others to feel good about themselves. Alex and I believe that people give to others but quite often do not take time for self-care and to recharge their own batteries. In a fast paced world people are so busy being busy and don’t spend time to simply be still. We an extensive group fitness background, Alex Cornwall is our yoga, mindful, meditation and breath specialist. I, Naz Serginson have an experienced background in various complementary therapies including aromatherapy, massage and meditation.
We hold our 'Wellbeing Retreat Days' at Senses Wellbeing Centre CIC at Skelton, our next one is the beginning of Oct and we are launching our pop up events soon which are shorter sessions giving more people a taster of the type of services that we offer, which you will be able to find out about on our social media platforms!
Can you tell me the best thing about your organisation?
We are 100% passionate about reaching, working and changing the lives for the better of as many people as we can, we feel as though we really do leave a positive impact on our community. We both love working with people and have many years of experience between us, working with the public, either one-to-one or in groups. We’re not fixed to any one abode or equipment enabling us to be multidimensional and very flexible. We are able to offer our services within other establishments within the community this supports other community based services and/or we come directly to you and deliver our services, offering immersive 'Wellbeing Retreat Days', workshops or a course of sessions providing everything and anything that’s needed for you to get the best results out of our services.
What is the proudest achievement in your career?
We are most proud of setting up our business, the proudest achievement would be setting up our business. We put a lot of time and effort into this, and we were so proud when the business started trading. If you do not look after yourself you cannot continually give to others, at some point you will burn out. We were also proud to collaborate with Teesside University in delivering a bespoke wellbeing programme for their staff, which was a huge success.
What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?
Developing our business and our skill set further, reaching even more people and offering more wellbeing programmes within our local community. Our aim is to work closely with local residents and businesses, helping them to have a positive impact on their employees health; through incorporating wellbeing, emotional and mental health tailored packages. We want to make our health and wellbeing services easily accessible to all.
What would you say is the best thing about Redcar and Cleveland?
It’s so diverse, we have so many excellent features in our borough, such as woodland, National Park Heritage being so close by, beautiful coastal beaches and the North Yorkshire Moors all at our fingertips so plenty of options to choose from when striving to ‘switch off and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life’. It’s steeped in history rich from hard work and graft with what was once thriving with the steel, petrochemical, shipyard and mining industries.
We’re a wonderful community who aren't scared to roll up our sleeves and work hard. Of course we’re delighted to be Ambassadors for Redcar and Cleveland, we love where we live and work and want to make a huge, accessible and positive impact on the wellbeing of its population.
