Ambassador Spotlights: LJC Architectural Design

We caught up with Rob Henderson from LJC Architectural Design, a stylish business based in the Innovation Centre within Kirkleatham Business Park! Find out about their business below!

Can you tell me about your organisation?

In July 2023, we started LJC Architectural Design studio with a group of talented people in the Innovation Centre, Kirkleatham Business Park, focusing on quality of work and a passion for creativity after previously working with my father as G R Henderson Architectural Design. We felt our local knowledge and experience made us stand out from the crowd with our team already having thousands of projects in the area under our belt. We are currently looking to take on our 5th team member to comfortably deliver our high standards to the growing workload as people are starting to use our services more and more.

What is the best thing about your organisation?

The passion our team will tackle a project with blows me away! I can ask someone to deal with a particular problem and it can already have been foreseen and dealt with before I ask. The work ethic in the studio makes it a fantastic place to work and makes me really proud of our team!

What is the proudest achievement in your career?

We are approached to do a lot of difficult and challenging projects, but designing a home for our client and receiving a hard fought for planning permission because it is of “outstanding design” quality makes me proud that I know my team is doing their job to the best of their abilities to assist me. It’s extremely rare to be able to get a design passed like that and it’s great to know we can deliver the highest quality of service in design.

What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?

We are looking forward to growing the business in the next year as we are being asked to bid for some higher profile contracts as well as some really interesting innovative design projects that we have been asked to be involved with that will push the boundaries of architecture and hopefully influence other designers in the field.

What would you say is the best thing about Redcar and Cleveland?

I’ve worked on the designs of buildings from Bournemouth up to Glasgow, but I love the diversity of landscape and heritage in our area. It provides a really interesting place to work in this field. I’ve learnt so much about our history over the years, it’s been quite fascinating!
