Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG)

The Additional Restrictions Grant funding scheme aims to support businesses severely impacted by coronavirus restrictions when most needed.

The Government's guidance on the Additional Restrictions Grant has recently changed to make sure the needs of businesses re-opening following the periods of national lockdown and local restrictions are met.

We will update this page with details of the grants and support available to businesses. The grants currently available are set out below.

Additional Restrictions Grant – Scheme 1 Restart Top Up

The ARG Scheme 1 was open for applications December 2020 and 31 March 2021. You can read the detailed policy for this grant below. The scheme has now closed to new applications – we are working through applications received prior to 1 April 2021 and we will let relevant businesses know the outcome of their claim as soon as possible.

LRSG Business Grants Policy ARG 1

Businesses which have successfully applied for ARG 1 and continue to meet the eligibility criteria for that scheme will qualify for a further ‘Restart Top Up Payment’ which will be made during April 2021.

If your business has received ARG payments previously but ceases to be eligible for this grant prior to further payments being made, you must email us immediately at businessgrants@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk. The Government will not accept deliberate manipulation and fraud - any business caught falsifying their records to gain additional grant money will face prosecution and any funding issued will be subject to claw back. All payments will be subject to ongoing checks and verification.

Additional Restrictions Grant – Scheme 2

This scheme will be open to new applications for a four-week period from 24 March 2021, or until the available funds have been allocated, whichever is the sooner. Therefore, businesses should not delay in making applications to this fund. You can read the detailed policy for this grant below:

LRSG Business Grants Policy ARG 2

Under this scheme, a one-off payment will be distributed to eligible Redcar and Cleveland businesses which have been significantly impacted during periods of national lockdown and local restrictions between 5 November 2020 and 31 March 2021 but have not previously claimed LRSG Closed or Addition Restrictions Grant Scheme 1. These businesses include:

Self-employed individuals who have been in receipt of SEISS can apply for this grant. Market traders and other traders able to evidence regular pitches within the Borough (including at Redcar Racecourse) will also be eligible where they cannot evidence a local operational address.

To apply for this grant, you must complete the Local Restrictions Support Grant – Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme 2 application form. We will then assess your eligibility and make payments as appropriate. Evidence will be required to demonstrate significantly reduced sales or trade.

All payment amounts and eligibility decisions will be made at the Council's discretion.

If at any point your business ceases to be eligible for this grant, you must email us immediately at businessgrants@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk. The Government will not accept deliberate manipulation and fraud - any business caught falsifying their records to gain additional grant money will face prosecution and any funding issued will be subject to claw back. All payments will be subject to ongoing checks and verification.
