The benefits of doing this effectively includes helping in the effort to tackle climate change and enhancing your image and customer retention.<\/p>\n<p>If you have <strong>10 or more full-time equivalent (FTE) employees<\/strong> you had to be compliant with the new legislation by <strong>31st March 2025<\/strong>.<br \/><br \/>If you have <strong>fewer than 10 FTE employees in total across all of your premises<\/strong>, you must be compliant with the new legislation by <strong>31st March 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the new legislation?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new legislation in England requires the following types of wastes to be separated in accordance with the arrangements made with your contracted waste collector:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Food waste<\/strong> &#8211; must be collected separately from other waste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dry mixed recycling<\/strong> &#8211; includes plastic, metal, glass, paper and cardboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>General\/residual waste<\/strong> \u2013 includes non-recyclable materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that all businesses produce some food waste. The Government hasn&#8217;t set a minimum food waste weight before the new legislation applies, so it\u2019s likely that these changes will also apply to your workplace if you had <strong>10 or more full-time equivalent (FTE) employees<\/strong> on <strong>31st March 2025, <\/strong>or <strong>31st March 2027<\/strong> if you <strong>have fewer than 10 FTE employees in total across all of your premises<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Please speak to your contracted waste collection provider, who will advise you on what collections they are able to provide and answer any questions you may have regarding the new legislation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your contracted waste collection provider is Redcar &amp; Cleveland Borough Council, you can contact the Trade Waste team via:<\/p>\n<p>E: <strong><a href=\"mailto:tradewaste@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk\">tradewaste@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introducing &#8216;The Business of Recycling&#8217; website<\/h3>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrap.ngo\/uk\">WRAP<\/a> has developed a useful website in partnership with DEFRA.
