DESCRIPTION:A Summer Singing Activity for ages 9 to teens will be given in Brotton Village Hall (top end of Laburnam Road\, TS12 2SE) during August. \nThe young people will learn the skill of Unaccompanied Harmony Singing. \nTaster Session on Tue 8th.   Then\, if enough people came to the Taster\, every Tuesday & Friday till 1 Sept (or possibly 29 Aug).\n(If you miss the Taster\, check with Timothy before coming to any later date.) \nAll sessions 10:30 – 12:00.      No charge\, donations invited. \nThe last session will\, we hope\, include a small performance for families & friends. \nAND:  It is intended to continue as a weekly Youth Choir in Sept for those who want.   Please register your offspring’s interest in this now\, even if they can not make the August activity. \nTimothy Edwards  —  tel 01287-200347\,  mob 07896 534302.

SUMMARY:The Sound of Our Town - A Man Called Adam
DESCRIPTION:What does Redcar sound like?  The screech of seagulls? The ping of the amusement arcades? The chugging of the train? The soughing of the sea? \nElectronic music pioneers A Man Called Adam (think literal originators of Balearic Beats!) are back in their native North-East and looking to create a new piece of music with young musicians in Teesside. \nSally & Steve are running two three-hour sessions at TunedIn in Redcar on Wednesday 9 & Thursday 10 August.   Learn the art of deep listening (google it!) and how to repurpose non-musical sound.  Day 1: Capture everyday sounds\, from bingo callers to birdlife\, from weather fronts to checkout chats – to create a rich and distinctive sound portrait of the town. \nDay 2:  Sally and Steve will create beats from the gathered sounds and discuss how Hip-Hop artists use their own\, idiosyncratic experiences to craft their lyrics and sonic worlds. Working in pairs\, you can explore your own experiences in a dynamic lyric writing session and record rhymes to the beats. \nBook your slot here
