DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the next exhibition at The Heritage Gallery at Cargo Fleet: A Wild Ride by Garth Bayley. \nThe exhibition will be open with free admission\, Monday – Friday\, 8.30am – 4.45pm\, with an opening evening from 5pm – 7pm on Thursday 19th October. \nThe opening offers a great opportunity to meet Garth over drinks & nibbles and ask any questions about the work on display. \nGarth arrived in the United Kingdom 15 years ago with his suitcase and a taste for adventure. The change from leaving South Africa and his previous career as a chef to become an international selling artist has not been without challenge. \nGarth’s love for people\, colour and movement is the foundation of his practice. His work originated in the subject of dance and he is still inspired by this. He recently had the opportunity to observe and sketch Northern Ballet (based in Leeds) during rehearsals for an upcoming show. These sketches will soon lead to a new series of paintings. \nGarth has documented several cycling races for a number of years now and his “painting a day” approach to following races such as the Tour de France\, the Giro d’Italia and our own Tours of Britain and Yorkshire has led to comprehensive body of work that collectors have snapped up from across the world. \nA third form of movement expressed in his painting comes from animals\, most frequently horses and horseracing. Inspiration drawn from the everyday completes the repertoire and transforms more static items such as buildings and the world around us into landscapes that capture a moment in time with evocative colour and movement.

Inshore fishing has seen many changes in traditions\, methods and craft as well as the impact of the changing environment. The fishers of this region have incredible stories to share about the boats\, the methods of fishing and the dangers. \nAs a final celebration of the Lemon Tops and Lobster Pots exhibition\, come and join us at Kirkleatham Museum to listen to Redcar Fishermen share their stories of the fishing\, the boats and the baithouses\, we’ll also be joined by Joe Redfern of Whitby Lobster Hatchery to learn about the sustainable future of fishing in these waters.

Two travelling entertainers\, strangers\, are trapped\, not able to move on\, but unwilling to stay.\nOutside\, a presence moves closer. Inside\, they share the tales of distant times and faraway lands. Waiting…\nWho are they\, what’s their story? Friends\, innocents\, showmen\, or something a little more intriguing?\nOnly time will tell… \nAnother Winter’s Tale\, from the award-winning company\, Dogwood Productions CIC\, will be touring villages and small towns in Yorkshire\, and Cleveland and Redcar in November and is at Saltburn Community and Arts Association on Wednesday 15th November at 19.30. Produced especially for the winter months\, the show is rich in original live music and puppetry\, with humour\, songs and an enthralling story. It includes shadow puppets\, hand puppets\, marionettes and a Kamishibai\, a traditional Japanese street theatre. Though it is suitable for children above 8 years old\, don’t be fooled by the idea of puppetry. It is above all\, a ghost story. \nThe show draws upon tales of deepest winter from the frozen North\, across Europe and Asia to Japan and much nearer to home. The stories could not be more diverse: from the joyful to the dark\, the new and the familiar\, all performed by the company of travelling strangers. DESCRIPTION:Once again Marske Community Partnership are organising their annual Christmas festival. This event brings out the spirit of Christmas in everyone throughout Marske. \nThe Pipers will be leading the parade and Santa will be at the back setting off at 6pm from Errington School. It will go down Windy Hill Lane around the roundabout and along Redcar Road finishing in the grounds of Marske Hall. If you want to see the Parade\, you need to line this route so get there early! \nSanta will be in his Grotto in The White House on Redcar Road 3.30pm till 5:30pm and 6:30pm till approx. 8.30pm. \nThere will be a fantastic craft fair in Marske Leisure Centre from 3.30pm until 7:30pm where you will be able to get hot food\, drinks\, and mulled wine. \nFree entry to the festival – £2 per child for Santa’s Grotto

DESCRIPTION:The Guisborough Town Mayor\, Councillor David Johnson\, will be holding the Community Carol Service in The Salvation Army Citadel Community Church\, Westgate\, Guisborough at 7pm on Monday 11th December 2023. \nCarols will be accompanied by the Salvation Army Band and a collection will take place which will be split between the Town Mayor’s chosen charities Guisborough Bridge Association and the Friends of Guisborough Library and the Salvation Army (Guisborough Branch). Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the Christmas festivities and enjoy a mince pie and coffee after the service!
