We're pleased to announce that Redcar and Cleveland will be participating in Year of the Coast 2023, a celebration of the English coast and the creation of the new England Coast Path! More than 185 million years old, the English coast is one of the most exciting and historically rich in the world. From maritime port cities, smuggling villages and family resorts to nature and unique sea life, it really has it all!
The England Coast Path opens up vast stretches of the English coast just waiting to be explored. On this challenging 2,700 mile long trail you’ll pass through some of England’s most beautiful countryside and coastal locations, including Redcar and Cleveland! There’s more to enjoy on our stunning coasts than you could ever wish for; from the simple pleasure of feeling the soft sand between your toes on a stroll along our vast stretches of beach to more adventurous activities such as windsurfing, sailing, fishing or surfing at one of the North East’s surfing hot spots. Discover our own picturesque hiking and cycling routes alongside the English Coast Path for the perfect way to explore the area - whether you're here to relax by the sea or make your own fun with our huge range of coastal activities, you'll be sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.
In addition to Year of the Coast we’ll also be celebrating Year of the Pier, a brilliant opportunity to visit Saltburn Pier: the most northerly surviving British Pier and the only remaining pleasure pier on the North East coast!
Year of the Coast 2023's Calendar showcases some of the spectacular events being celebrated all across the country including this year's British National Road Championships, which British Cycling will be bringing to Redcar and Saltburn this summer.
