New for 2026 is our Teen Takeover day on Tuesday 18 August which features an exciting programme of free drop-in activities and events in Redcar High Street designed in consultation with young people across the borough and aimed at ages 10+.

Hop aboard Game Zone’s gaming bus for multi-screen Minecraft, FIFA, Super Mario and much more.  Try your hand at fashion or fantasy illustration with Palmer Illustrations.  Have a go at using loop pedals, drum machines, synths and more with We Make Sound.

Always fancied yourself as a TV presenter?  Come along and be a Youth Host for Zest Theatre’s Sound Board – part chat show, part game, part performance with three shows throughout the day at 11am, 1.30pm and 3pm.

Don’t miss Protection of Dream – a thrilling street dance performance by Redcar’s Imaginarium Studio at midday.

Join artist Caroline Colours Creative and make a giant doodle or how about an origami workshop with artist Adam Bligh.

Meet author Mike Edwards whose latest book The Voice in the Flames is set around Redcar and Cleveland and the former steelworks andfeatures a boy who discovers something fiery.

Join the circus and try unicycling, juggling, plate-spinning and much more with Circurama.

Or why not simply curl up in a bean bag in our chill-out zone and grab yourself a book from our Teen Book Swap.

The day runs from 11am to 4pm and is completely free.  No need to book in – just turn up and get stuck in.   The day is aimed at young people but if you want to bring an adult along, then they will be very welcome.
