Flying in a big open space, avoiding other people or any animals. Making sure to stay away main roads and railways.Flying in storming weather! Wet kites can conduct electricity and in storms you could get zapped by lighting.
Find a flat area where there’s nothing to trip over whilst flying your kite.Flying near power lines! If you get your kite caught, don’t try and retrieve it. Your next kite will be better, because you will still be alive to fly it.
Find spot where you’re away from any big hills or buildings so the wind isn’t messed up and you can fly better.Don’t fly near trees and buildings where you could get caught, endanger others or frighten animals.
Fly your kite on a day where the wind is just right, not too windy and not to calm.Avoid flying within 5km (3miles) of an airfield and don’t fly higher than 60 metres unless you have express permission from the Civil Aviation Authority.
