Cycling is becoming increasingly popular whether its for leisure, sport or a means of transport. What better way to explore Redcar and Cleveland!

With Guisborough Forest, the stunning Cleveland coast and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park right on the doorstep the cycle opportunities are endless.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are proud to host a section of the long distance National Cycle Network (NCN 1) route 168 from Middlesbrough to Staithes, taking in the glorious coastal views of Saltburn-by-the-Sea and forms part of the longer North Sea Cycle Route.

The Let’s Go Tees Valley and Sustrans  website have route builders that can help you find some of the best cycle routes in our borough and beyond. In addition to this, Sustrans currently offers the following services:

Redcar Leisure Centre 1st Weds Every month.

Eston Leisure Centre 2nd Weds Every month

Saltburn Library 3rd Weds Every month.

St Hilda’s Church Redcar, every Thursday (excluding December 28th)

Free 1:1 cycle coaching for adults. For complete beginners or those who haven’t ridden in years. Learn how to balance, pedal, turn, brake and change gears, all on quiet paths and traffic-free areas

When walking or cycling, the best route for you to take isn’t always obvious, but it can make a huge difference to your journey. Tell us your start point and your destination, and we’ll make you a personalised map showing the best route to take.

If you're unsure about cycling a regular journey but don't have the confidence, we’ll accompany you for your first ride. A Sustrans ride leader will plan a safe route for you and join you on your ride to show the way and offer advice and training as required.
