Festival of Thrift 2019 

The award-winning, national Festival of Thrift, the go-to event for anyone passionate about good living in sustainable ways is back this weekend! A joyful weekend packed with sustainable arts, crafts, music, fashion, food, entertainment, shopping, demos, workshops and upcycling inspiration, the hugely popular festival offers a weekend of free eco-friendly fun in the wonderful woodland surroundings of Kirkleatham Village & Museum. How to get there:

As part of their Thrifty aims they encourage people to come by public transport. BY BIKE Kirkleatham is on a cycle route with plenty of cycle parking onsite. Sustrans Cycling or walking to the Festival offers so much: it keeps you fit, it’s fast, cheap, reliable and good for the environment too!  Free cycle parking is available and Kirkleatham Museum is located on the National Cycle Network which is 14,000 miles of traffic free or quiet on road routes:  https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map BY BUS From Redcar Central there are buses from West Dyke Road in Redcar. 63 towards Middlesbrough, 81 towards Stokesley or, on Sunday only, 81A towards Guisborough. BY CAR The main approach road to Kirkleatham Village is the A174 ‘Parkway’. Follow the Brown signs. Parking around the site is controlled and all Festival goers should park in the Festival car park – there is no parking on roads or verges. Parking will be available at the showfield in the village, the museums car park will be closed to the public Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September. Accessible car parking will be available off the A174 at Fishpond roundabout – please follow the signs.  Car parking is £5 per car. BY TRAIN The nearest railway station is Redcar Central on the Middlesbrough to Saltburn line. If you have travelled by train and show
your ticket on an Arriva bus you will receive
