How to press beautiful specimens of seaweeds and how to identify a variety of species?<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">To learn all this and more, join Claire from Craft and Nature Creations for this Seaweed Pressing Workshop at the Saltburn Valley Woodlands Centre, just a 10 minute walk from the beach. August is great time of year for seaweeds, and a good variety should be available to collect and press. The event is scheduled for low tide, on a large spring tide. You will have your very own cardboard press to take home with you and hopefully some new found appreciation and knowledge of this marine macro algae. A microscope will also be available on the day to study the finer details of seaweeds.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\"><strong>What to expect:<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>10.15am Arrival and Welcome<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>10.30am Briefing and exploration of seaweeds. Look at a vast array of beautiful pressed samples, what to look for, learn about the tides\/safety<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>11.30am &#8211; Head outside (buckets provided) to collect seaweed specimens. Don&#8217;t forget your wellies<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>12.45pm &#8211; Quick coffee break\/snack\/lunch back at the centre<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>1.15pm &#8211; Press and label seaweed specimens into a press<\/strong><br class=\"html-br\" \/><strong>2.00-2.30pm &#8211; Event End\/Q&amp;A, participants can take their temporary seaweed press home with them (inc instructions)<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">All equipment will be provided including trays, buckets and cardboard presses to take home your pressed herbarium specimens.
