Give Blood and Give Back

These are difficult and trying times. It can be easy to feel helpless and isolated. There is, however, one crucial thing we can do.

I know that Redcar and Cleveland is a caring place at its core. We look out for each other even when times are difficult. Helping each other is what we do and it is more necessary now than ever.

The NHS is more vital now than ever and we can all do our bit to support it. I'm sure we have all been touched in some way by the brilliant work of our health care professionals.

"Please donate when you can - hospitals and patients are relying on you".

Penny, Area Matron

Donating blood is quick and easy and allows us to support vulnerable people in our society.

If you haven’t donated for a while, or it’s your first time, registering online is quick and easy to do. Your appointment will be a few months in the future and you will be able to choose from lots of local places.

There are hundreds of stories of people who rely on your donations, such as four-year-old Edie who suffers from a rare form of anaemia. She will need to have regular blood transfusions for the rest of her life. She is not the only one who relies on the kindness of the public to survive.

We all must do what we can to stand up to fear and look after one another. Every time you donate blood, you can save up to three lives.

Guidelines and hygiene measures have been put in place to keep us safe. Please read through the information provided.
