Ambassador Spotlights: Athlos Personal Training

Athlos Personal Training

Can you tell me what your organisation does?

Athlos Personal Training provides a mobile fitness and nutrition coaching service in the Redcar and Teesside area. I work with individuals, couples and small groups, I’ve even worked with local businesses!

I’m currently working with Thirteen Housing for a weekly staff ‘bootcamp’, this is part of their wellbeing programme, where I provide a group fitness session for staff.

I offer varied programmes that can be aimed at strength building, weight loss, etc. I also offer advice on nutritional habits for a well-balanced lifestyle, giving those who work with me help every step of the way.

Can you tell me the best thing about your organisation?

I would say it’s how I cater my service to an individual’s personal needs. I can work with you anywhere from local parks, beaches, your garden, or a spare room in your house. I tailor everything for my clients from their training to nutritional help.

The gym environment doesn’t always appeal to everyone one reason or another, and they can sometimes feel a bit intimidating. This is especially true if you’re unsure what to do or concerned about your body image or abilities. When you’re outside or in an environment that suits you personally, you can feel more relaxed and able to give more – which makes the activity even more enjoyable and the results more attainable.

What is the proudest achievement in your career?

Besides currently working towards my Sport & Exercise Science Degree and the other qualifications I’ve achieved through working in this industry, it’s getting the results from my clients. I remember helping a 50-year-old woman who is passionate about joining the police force, but she didn’t like how she looked and hadn’t done any exercise for a long period of time.

After 18 months, she worked with me twice a week and she has lost weight and gained that body confidence and a high strength and fitness level. She worked so hard that she passed through the police selection processes and is now onto the final stages.

It’s a massive achievement knowing that I can give such results, especially when this was such a big factor in providing motivation for her.

What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?

I’m looking forward to building the business further and helping more people. I put a big emphasis on education through my website and social media, so I enjoy putting out as much information as I can. I’m excited about who else I can help!

Working in local parks and beaches, I’ve found that working with Redcar | Cleveland Ambassadors has allowed me to show off the best of what the area has. Without it, I wouldn’t have this business.

The environment has been a massive factor in my success and being able to demonstrate that is a satisfying feeling. Redcar and Cleveland’s local area provides the means for a diverse training regime – steps on the beach, hills in the countryside and more.

What would you say is the best thing about Redcar and Cleveland?

With the diversity of the environment, you can be on the beach, countryside, and the high street in just five or ten minutes.

Everything is at your doorstep, and you don’t have to travel that far to enjoy the area.
