Your Home Group

We caught up with Jamey Bowles from Your Home Group, a new company operating in the local housing market. Their base is in The Palace Hub, Redcar, so they’re very much part of the community!

Can you tell me about your organisation?

Your Home Group was founded in January 2023 by myself, Jamey Bowles. I’ve spent the last 10 years building high quality family homes across the UK and realised that now was the time to help other investors do the same. Your Home Group was set up to help guide people who wanted to invest in property by somebody who’s achieved it themselves successfully for many years, as well as provide them in-depth construction knowledge through my experience building houses and also providing good, honest tenancy management. All three skills have been built by myself and now Your Home Group offers these same services to our clients who are either time poor or don’t possess all three skill sets. I aim to help others build successful property portfolios whilst bringing back affordable, quality homes to the local people whilst ensuring our honest and attentive tenant management service is available to all of our clients tenants.

What is the best thing about your organisation?

Your Home Group has set up its head office in the Palace Hub, and whilst doing so has employed locally 15 new permanent staff members, allowing us to pump £600,000 of additional money into the local economy.

In 2023 to date we have invested over £1,700,000 into property within Redcar, with 90% of our properties being fully renovated and rented to local people at an affordable rent. It’s important for me to employ locally as I feel this really helps not only our business flourish but the locally economy to have an additional boost along side its vast redevelopment plans.

As a landlord and builder myself, I enjoy nothing more than taking old, unloved properties and creating wonderful new homes. We’ve become quite popular with many local traders who really appreciate the effort we put into providing great homes for great tenants. Our clients get a great investment, we’re able to employ local people and local families are able to rent new homes at affordable prices. It’s a classic win, win situation for everyone.

What is the proudest achievement in your career?

My career has allowed me to wear many different hats and I don’t feel there is one particular proud moment but there definitely are many. I love seeing employees progress through the company. I enjoy building great relationships with tenants. I’m excited every time I get into a run down property and put the love back into it. Everyday feels like an achievement in my career and I very much enjoy the stresses and challenges that building a business involves.

What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?

I purchased Central Chambers business centre in mid 2023 and it’s currently being converted into a new Aparthotel. I’m extremely excited and looking forward to finishing this stunning project. The new hotel will be able to provide high quality accommodation to both business and leisure guests. The Aparthotel is nestled on the sea front, providing private gated parking, fully equipped apartments and fantastic sea views that will further help to boost the local economy.

I recently had some media publicity after we found a haul of gold treasure in the basement walls dating back to the 16th Century and we have decided to have this all professionally displayed in our new basement museum to allow our guests to see more of Redcar and Cleveland’s history!

What would you say is the best thing about Redcar and Cleveland?

The opportunities that are becoming available, as there are so many wonderful redevelopment plans. I enjoy walking along the beach first thing in the morning with a fresh coffee from Station Road’s very best Italian coffee shop and getting to take in the natural beauty that Redcar has to offer, what isn’t there to like?

I feel the area has developed significantly from when I first visited in 2019. The streets are cleaner than ever before, people seem happier and 2023’s short summer proved a huge success in the sheer amount of tourists.

I feel Redcar has a lot of upcoming growth for everybody and I look forward to being part of it. I’m not the only new business to relocate to the area and I’m very glad to have settled here building my businesses.
