More than two hundred thousand pounds of improvement works to one of the borough’s industrial estates will soon be underway, thanks to funding from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
Marske’s Longbeck Industrial Estate will benefit from improved roads and lighting and the establishment of a Business Improvement District for the estate is also under consideration.
Week commencing 8 April will see the beginning of a £64,000 project to improve the street lighting on the estate with LED low energy lamps while the roads within the estate will receive £175,000 of resurfacing, general repairs and pothole filling from the end of April.

Ian Hopley, Senior Project Manager for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said:

Future looks bright

Business Improvement District
Discussions are currently ongoing about the possibility of creating a Business Improvement District at Longbeck Industrial Estate, which, if agreed by the businesses, would see them contributing to a fund to cover the future maintenance of the newly improved assets, marketing and estate developments.

- The Longbeck Industrial Estate is a 7.3 hectare (18 acres) estate with immediate access to the A174, putting the Tees Valley and wider national motorway network within easy reach.
- There are 80 businesses working from the estate.
- Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has allocated £4.9 million to develop the borough’s industrial estates in recognition of their key role in our economic infrastructure.
