The winner of the first Redcar and Cleveland’s Got Talent competition can now be revealed.
Congratulations to Redcar singer Rayven Skye Masters!
Held as part of Redcar Live’s month long celebration of live music and performing arts, talented locals performed before a panel of judges who made the tough decision to name 11 year-old Rayven as the winner.
Doctor and The Medics
The singer, who raises funds for charity in her own time, will warm up the crowds next weekend before ‘80s hit makers Doctor and The Medics, who enjoyed a number one hit with Spirit in the Sky in 1986, take to the stage.
The free outdoor music show takes place on Saturday 7 September, 2pm, on Redcar’s Queen Street and will feature tribute acts, local bands and more.
Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust
Winner Rayven Skye, 11, from Redcar, said: “I’m so pleased to win!
“I love to sing, write songs and go to dance and acting lessons.
“I auditioned to prove to myself and others that I can do what I love and hopefully inspire others to do what they love.
“I’m proud of my area. So many people have helped me get to where I am now, like the Council giving me a busking licence to busk for charity.
“I raise money for the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust. These two people were killed in the Manchester bombing and the Trust helps other people to follow their dreams in sports and in the arts. So everything I raise from weddings to busking goes to the charity.”
Difficult decision
Councillor Karen King, Deputy Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “Congratulations Rayven Skye!
“The judges had a difficult decision to make as the standards were so high. All the finalists were fantastic and provided some great entertainment for the audience.
“I hope we get to see you perform regularly around the Boroughs and further afield.
“Redcar Live has been a great success and it’ll be back next year with more live music and I hope another Redcar and Cleveland’s Got Talent competition.”
The runners up were Imogen Burton, age 10, and Anthony Mucklow, 28.
