Business donates £10,000 to training centre

The Grangetown Training and Employment Hub received a very welcome surprise in the shape of a gift voucher for £10,000.

The Hub is backed by MGT biomass power and its operating company, Fortum, is recruiting 40 staff through the Hub.

A recent visit from some of Fortum’s senior management took an unexpected turn when Pekka Kokkonen handed over the gift voucher to the Hub’s staff. The money will be used to purchase furniture.

The Hub’s Gill Sutherland said: “We thought they were coming for an introductory meeting and tour so you can imagine how surprised we were to receive £10,000!

“It was a lovely surprise and a fantastic recognition of the support provided by our team to Fortum.”

The Grangetown Training and Employment Hub, which has helped more than 900 people into work in total, can be contacted on 01642 459035 to discuss career development, training and job seeking.
