?? Say hello to Saltburn’s first Zero Waste Shop
And goodbye to the over use of plastic and packaging.
@thecutbackcic is a marvelous social enterprise business with a shop where you can buy all of your goods without plastic and unnecessary packaging. Based on Dundas Street West (opposite Saltburn train station).
It will also house a community space and café, where workshops will be held. The overall goal for this fab initiative is to support the local community with the fight against climate change.
Tracy Reeve, is the fabulous eco warrior and all-round good egg who is behind this great venture. With a background working with organisations such as Eco schools and the WWF, supporting ecological initiatives and raising awareness of environmental issues and after being made redundant earlier in the pandemic. Tracey decided NOW is the right time to go with her idea and make a difference in Saltburn.
“I am going to create a space within the Saltburn community where you can come and buy a wide range of products such as food, tea, coffee, beauty products and toys….all without the senseless amount of, mostly non-recyclable plastic. With a great many of the products available loose for you to decant into your own containers.
Based on my recent survey (posted on local social media and filled in by almost 400 respondents!! Which was amazing!!) I am intending to prioritise the ethical values of products based on the following criterion…
No plastic
No packaging, or as little as possible
Minimum food/product miles
Organic
Chemical and GM free
Fairtrade and Rainforest alliance certified
So I do all the research for you, you can shop at The Cut Back safely with the knowledge that everything you buy has sustainability at its heart!”
Keep your eyes peeled for the official opening date for this great community space! The shop will open first in March, followed by the eco hub, then the café, exciting! In the meantime why not give them a follow @thecutbackcic
