It’s been another week of award nominations for our fantastic attractions and dedicated individuals working hard to make Redcar | Cleveland a success. That, along with looking ahead to two smashing events, is the focus of this week’s Friday Five.
1. We start at the seaside with the splendid news that the magnificent Saltburn Cliff Tramway has again been nominated for a VisitEngland Welcome Accolade.
The tramway received an 86% quality score last year and assessors have now increased its score to 91%.
The VisitEngland Assessment Report said: “The Tramway experience was novel and interesting as well as providing a practical way to get up and down the steep hill. The team of staff enhanced the experience with their knowledge which they were happy to share…All staff were presented extremely well. Staff were seen to engage well with visitors whilst they waited for a carriage.”
The good news is the tramway is still open daily until November 8.

3. Closer to home, Grangetown Netball coach Geraldine Williams and Redcar Racecourse’s Stephen Berry have been nominated in The Gazette’s Sports Awards. Geraldine is in the Coach/Mentor of the Year category and Stephen is up for the Unsung Hero Award. The ceremony takes place later this month.
