Sweet Street is Redcar’s brand-new Dessert Festival taking over Redcar High Street.  Celebrating Redcar’s famous delicacy the Lemon Top, the festival co-incides with National Ice Cream Day on Sunday 19 July.  An artisan dessert market will sell everything from cakes to cookies, churros to crepes, cannolis to sweet dumplings, brownies and blondies and of course ice cream, there will also be a Demo Kitchen featuring chocolatiers, bakers and patisserie chefs.  There will be a Sweet Street Trail for children and workshops (small fees may apply) for all ages in everything from chocolate lollipop making, cake decorating and biscuit icing.

Beamish Museum will be giving a fascinating insight into the history of migration and ice cream in the North East and they will be bringing their traditional ice cream maker along demonstrating how to make ice cream in the old-fashioned way as well as artefacts and pictures from the musuem.  Artefacts of pictures.

Lady Lemon Top will be story telling and there will be street theatre keeping everyone entertained.
