Left Luggage is a sculpture created by Lewis Robinson. It celebrates the filming of Atonement, a romantic war tragedy film based on Ian McEwan’s 2001 novel of the same name. It was unveiled in 2007 by Atonement director Joe Wright and Producer Paul Webster. Redcar beach was the site of the Dunkirk beach sequence and stood in for Bray-Dunes, another scene was shot in the Regent Cinema on the promenade. Painted steel sculpture group of a large trunk and file cabinets, together with a director’s chair, a pile of books, a helmet, a sitting bird, and a rifle.
