From the Earth Exhibition

May 24 - May 25

Working with artists and communities from across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland, All Year Round: The Flower Patch CIC have been exploring the variety of pigments/colours that can be extracted from natural materials (leaves, flowers, tree bark, rocks, earth) while exploring techniques for extraction such as soil chromatography, mark making and steam dying.

Through a series of workshops natural materials were collected then processed to extract colour pigment. The process was documented throughout using photographs and video. Once a collection of pigments was secured, participants have been invited to create either a group composition or individual pieces of artwork utilising the colour palette that has been created during the extraction processes, the finished pieces are available to see in a short exhibition at the museum on Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May.

Alongside the exhibition you will have the opportunity to join Nicky and team Patch making in your own charcoal and create your own composition using mark making techniques.

Normal museum entry fee will apply, workshops are included as part of this.
