Skippers Lane consultation

Multi-million pound plans to extend the Skippers Lane Industrial Estate will be available for public scrutiny at a special consultation event in April.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has to date secured £2.8 million towards the expansion of Skippers Lane which will facilitate the development of a range of high-quality, affordable business units.

Business community

Members of the business community from Skippers Lane Industrial Estate are invited to have their say on Thursday 4 April 2019, 8.30am to 10.30am, at Cargo Fleet Business Centre, Middlesbrough Road, South Bank TS6 6XJ

Residents

A second event for residents will take place at the Golden Boy Green Community Centre, Southbank, on Thursday 4 April, 12 – 3pm, to view the plans and have their comments recorded to influence the development of the project.

Gather people’s views

Ian Hopley, Senior Project Manager for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “Skippers Lane Industrial Estate is an incredibly important business asset for the borough.

“It’s home to around 120 businesses which employ hundreds of local people and contributes millions to the regional economy.

“We need to make sure the estate’s offer is suitable to businesses of all sizes and want to gather people’s views on our proposals for the expansion.”

Notes:

Skippers Lane Industrial Estate is one of the region’s busiest industrial estates. At 46 Ha’s (114 acres ), the estate is home to both multi-national companies and independent businesses adding significantly to our local economy.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has allocated £4.9 million to develop the borough’s industrial estates in recognition of their key role in our economic infrastructure.
