Celebrating ‘National Apprenticeship Week’ – Meet Dan

It’s National Apprenticeship Week! Hear from Dan – our Place Marketing Apprentice – and his experience in his time through the scheme so far!

Between 6-10 February, we joined in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council offering a number of exciting events to the apprentices. With seven events throughout the week, there was plenty to choose from as the apprentices were given the opportunity to connect with one another, share their experiences, and offer their opinions for future events!

Dan, 18, chose three of the available events: Apprentice Forum, Ryehills Academy Careers Fair, Apprentice Walk – which were all successful in bringing together the apprentices of our area, setting a great example for those who would like to take up an Apprenticeship in the future. Other events included a virtual quiz, outdoor craft activities, countryside ranger work, and an ‘ask an apprentice’ event.

Dan said: “I am thoroughly enjoying my time working in my apprenticeship in Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, the Business team is highly welcoming, and I’ve found myself making great progress in my abilities within the sector. The opportunity to earn and learn through the apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic opportunity that I would recommend to anybody!”

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the week as I’ve been able to meet the other apprentices in the area and have got to try out new experiences that I’ve found to be useful to both my role and personal development in what was an exciting week!”

“I chose the place marketing apprenticeship as marketing was a great interest of mine in A Level Business at Prior Pursglove College, I have found the job to be highly enjoyable and I hope to achieve the greatest outcome as a result of this apprenticeship, in which I have brilliant support surrounding me to achieve this goal. My role is a very fulfilling one, creating newsletters, news stories, and social media posts are my favourite aspects of my work for the Ambassadors project, it helps that I am passionate about the work that I am doing!”
