New Guisborough salon ‘hits the ground running’ and is now up for national award

Denham Hair and Beauty Studio in Guisborough town centre, owned by Emma Fletcher, is a finalist in the UK Hair and Beauty Awards. The salon only opened its doors on December 5 but has gone from strength to strength in the weeks since its launch.

Emma, a former hair and beauty teacher at colleges in Middlesbrough and Redcar, put in 18 months of hard work to transform the derelict building, which was formerly Fatso’s. Since opening the salon, the staff have been busy performing hair and beauty treatments on clients, old and new – with Emma’s client base growing by 100 in six weeks.

Emma said: “Making the finals is just an amazing feeling and achievement in itself. I feel privileged to be a finalist for Best New Salon in the national Hair and Beauty Awards.”

“I feel like this highlights all of my hard work, recognition and achievement that this salon deserves. The business is in its infancy and its surpassed our expectations from when we opened and we are looking forward to the future.”

“It’s taken off so well and I hope it continues in this positive way. We hit the ground running and it’s been a pleasant experience.”

Denham is a “modern and high-end” hair and beauty studio that offers a range of services, including a bespoke hair colouring service, Kerastase hair treatments, a tanning room with the “very unique UGlow tan” and “luxury” Temple Spa facials. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen visited the salon last month and “only had positive things to say about the building and the new life we have breathed into it,” according to Emma. The proud salon boss has also employed two of her former students, Sarah and Destinee, and the team is due to expand.

Emma, added: “Guisborough town residents have been amazing, so lovely to me and have said really positive things about the building and the business. Starting a new business is always hard, but we have done so well.”

“The local businesses have been really lovely to me and I can’t thank them enough for the warm welcome. Lots of the businesses on the high street actually come to have hair and beauty treatments from me, which in itself is so positive.”

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards finalists will attend a red carpet event in Birmingham on June 1. Find out more about Denham Hair and Beauty Studio by clicking here.
