Dog friendly places to visit in Redcar & Marske

Dog friendly places to visit in Redcar

Places to Visit

Food and Drink

At Redcar, dogs are excluded from the beach area of The Regent and the point of the beach at which the Esplanade meets Graffenberg Street, during the visitor season (1 May-30 September) in any year.

Dogs are welcome to be walked on a lead along the Esplanade any time including outside the visitor season when these exclusions apply.

The council allows access to this part of the beach, including during the visitor season when the Redcar dog on beach exclusion zone exclusion is in operation, to blind persons and disabled persons who rely on their highly trained assistance dog, in compliance with the Equality Act 2010.

The council’s expectations of exempted persons accessing the beach are as follows:

  • Their dog must be working
  • Their dog must be on short lead
  • Their dog must not be disturbing other people enjoying the beach.

As emotional support or therapy dogs are not referenced in law, no exemptions are in place for these dogs.

A map showing this exclusion zone can be seen here
