Sweet Street – Redcar’s new dessert festival by the sea
Sweet Street is Redcar’s brand-new Dessert Festival hitting Redcar High Street on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July from 11am to 5pm. Celebrating National Ice Cream Day and our famous Lemon Top!



Our artisan dessert market will sell everything from cakes to cookies, churros to crepes, cannoli to sweet dumplings, chocolate to blondies and of course ice cream just to name a few.
Key highlights include an exciting Demo Kitchen, featuring leading international chocolatiers, bakers and chefs. Workshops for all ages will allow visitors to get hands on with professional ice cream making, cheesecake making and chocolate lollipops. There will also be a Sweet Trail for children throughout the high street which will take in some of our amazing businesses. And a Redcar and Cleveland cake competition will bring the Bake Off vibes to the festival.
Redcar Crooner George Robinson will be performing a range of Italian crooner classics at one of Redcar’s most famous ice cream parlours Pacittos.
Beamish Museum will be giving a fascinating insight into the history of migration and ice cream in the North East, and they will be delivering a hands-on demonstration of how to make ice cream in the old-fashioned way at Tees Valley Arts in Palace Hub on the Esplanade.

Get ready for the sweetest party in town! Bursting with colour, sparkle, bubbles and irresistible pop anthems, The Cake Pop Crew serves up a deliciously fun walkabout experience packed with dancing, laughter and feel-good vibes.
Urban Kaos are on a mission to sprinkle joy, tempt your best dance moves and turn the festival into one giant cake pop party!

Fancy a Lemon Top? Creative Babes Club Studios are hosting a free Lemon Top Crafty Workshop at Redcar’s Dessert Festival! Using paper collage, pompoms and ribbons, Creative Babes will be helping you make and decorate their own Lemon Top Ice Cream Cone – in our ‘Ice Cream Parlour’. All of the arts n’ crafts are provided and guided by Creative Babes Club Studios.

Cake Competition
Is it Cake? 🍰🎂🥮🍥
If you’re a fan of the cult Netflix cake making show, then you’ll love Redcar Dessert Festival’s cake competition.
Sweet Street is celebrating the fabulous place we live with an exciting cake decorating competition. Whether you are a baking novice or an aspiring Great British Bake Off contestant, we are looking for cakes that are inspired by Redcar & Cleveland.
A Roseberry Topping cake? Beach huts? The RNLI Museum? Guisborough Priory? A surfing scene? Pick your inspo and get baking! You can enter a large cake decorated cake (up to 12 inches in diameter) or a set of six decorated cup cakes.
We’re not judging on taste – this is purely on appearance. All decorating mediums are permitted, including sugar paste, royal icing, buttercream, chocolate, and modelling paste.
🍰Saturday 18 July will be our Junior Cake Decorating Competition open to competitors under 16 years of age
🍰Sunday 19 July is our Adult Cake Decorating Competition for ages 16+.
Bring your cakes along to the Information Tent in the High Street between 11am and 2pm each day. The winner will be announced at 3.30pm and will receive some amazing tickets to events in Redcar and Cleveland including Outdoor Theatre at Kirkleatham, the amazing Luminarium at Between the Tides and a sold out Totally Blondie show at Saltburn Theatre.
Cakes will be judged solely on appearance so you can take them home to enjoy them at the end of the day. Please ensure they are presented on a suitable display board or case.

After dropping your cake, make sure you head along to Rediscover Redcar in West Terrace where you will be able to view the most spectacular cake created specially for Redcar Dessert Festival by Sharon Bell of Bakes by the Sea.
A multi award winning cake maker for both design and taste at Cake International 2025 as well as a Bronze Award Winner in 2024, Marske based Sharon creates unique, quirky and beautiful cakes and cupcakes, with delicious flavours and fillings.
To date, Sharon has made everything from 6ft tall cakes, cakes with lights, sound, movement and bubbles and everything from a Trumpet in its case to a to a life size seal pup! We can’t wait to see what she comes up for Dessert Festival!

Chocolate Lollipop Making
Come and take part in this fun, hands on session to mould, design and create your very own chocolate lollipops…!
Led by the award-winning international chocolatier David Greenwood Haig (of Coeur de Xocolat) this workshop is designed to create a vibrant, interactive and memorable activity for visitors of all ages!
These take place every hour from 11am-4pm (3pm on Sunday). Tickets are £5 which includes all materials. Book in advance or pay on the day if there are still places available.
Mini cheesecake and cookie dough truffle making
Cook Stars bring their award-winning cookery classes to Sweet Street with mini cheesecake making on Saturday and cookie dough truffle making on Sunday.
Saturday’s session sees children designing and making four mini strawberry cheesecakes. Perfect for under 13s, this is a fun, hands on dessert adventure. Create your own cheesecakes to take home and share (or eat yourself!)
Sunday’s workshops are all about making cookie dough truffles – and you won’t believe how good they taste. Learn the basics of truffle making and you’ll never be stuck for gift ideas again.
All the Cook Star’s workshops are £12 which includes all materials.

Dirty Little Dumplings are best known for their savoury pockets of delicious-ness but we are delighted that they are bringing along some sweet versions to Redcar. Think fusion flavours like lychee along with treats like miso banana bread.
Firepit Pizza are turning their hand to sweet pizzas – although we’ve managed to persuade them to bring along their classic savoury pizzas too.
King Floss UK are selling their incredible candy floss characters. Marvel at the made to order Spiderman, Mario, Labulu, Stitch and many others.
Sunflower Kitchen will be bringing matchas, cup cakes and sweet scotch eggs!
Beanies Flavoured Coffee might be a familiar sight in retailers around the world but did you know they are based in Darlington. Flavoured instant coffee, coffee pods and bags in some sensational flavours like toffee apple, smores and creamy caramel.
Lindseys Cake Kitchen signature roll cakes are literally designed to melt in the mouth. Brownie and Blondie rolls plus a perfect crunch to goo ratio Caramel Cornflake Blondie. We can’t wait to see what they bring along to Dessert Festival.
LNY Homemade Sauces, Condiments and Jams cram the very best ingredients into their huge range of products. And their flavoured cheeses make the perfect accompaniment. They’ll be joining us on Sunday 19 July – stock up for World Cup Final snacks!
Great Ayton bakery Bakes & Treats will be bringing a sweet selection of cookies, cakes and treats.
New York style cookies from Littlemore Cookies come in a mouthwatering range of flavours. ThinNutella, Biscoff, Bueno, Milky Bar, Kinder and Maltesers. You’ll be spoilt for choice!
