An exhibition of works made in and around the historic village of Kirkleatham.
Renowned Kirkleatham based Land Artist James Brunt, whose work has taken him across the globe, presents an exhibition of new works created following his move to the village along with his partner.
‘Home’ is a journey of exploring his new surroundings and finding inspiration from the woodland on his doorstep. Stopping when the land presented an opportunity to temporarily rearrange fallen natural matter. He moved into the village on 2 Dec 2025 and the following day his creative journey began and runs up to the present day, working with the seasons, from the wet driving rain of winter, into a summer of heat waves and parched land.
James, who has previously been commissioned to create work for ITV, HBO, events in Taiwan, the USA and Spain along with large scale statement pieces in Knowsley, Ashington and Waddesdon
Manor in Buckinghamshire, says of the exhibition – “This is such an exciting opportunity for me, this is a body of work that nobody asked me to do, so the works are as close to my own creative practice as possible. This is what I do when left to my own devices, just me, the landscape around me and wildlife that I share the space with, deeply connected to the natural world”.
Saturday 17th October James will be in the gardens, making work and signing copies of his book ‘Land Art, creating works in and with the landscape’.
