Another Winter’s Tale

15th November 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

£7.50 – £12.50

It is a winter’s night. The storm outside gets ever louder. Two travelling entertainers, strangers, are trapped, not able to move on, but unwilling to stay.
Outside, a presence moves closer. Inside, they share the tales of distant times and faraway lands. Waiting…
Who are they, what’s their story? Friends, innocents, showmen, or something a little more intriguing?
Only time will tell…

Another Winter’s Tale, from the award-winning company, Dogwood Productions CIC, will be touring villages and small towns in Yorkshire, and Cleveland and Redcar in November and is at Saltburn Community and Arts Association on Wednesday 15th November at 19.30. Produced especially for the winter months, the show is rich in original live music and puppetry, with humour, songs and an enthralling story. It includes shadow puppets, hand puppets, marionettes and a Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese street theatre. Though it is suitable for children above 8 years old, don’t be fooled by the idea of puppetry. It is above all, a ghost story.

The show draws upon tales of deepest winter from the frozen North, across Europe and Asia to Japan and much nearer to home. The stories could not be more diverse: from the joyful to the dark, the new and the familiar, all performed by the company of travelling strangers. It’s also a celebration of seasonal songs, including the show’s own composition, which was released to raise funds for the Crisis at Christmas charity.

Tickets are £12.50 (£7.50 for under 18s) and are available on-line now and from Saltburn Arts

‘What a surprise! Didn’t know what to expect. I won’t ruin the play by telling you what it is about but I can tell you is that if you want good fire side tales with wit and good humour, songs with excellent harmonies then do find the time to unwind and relax away a few hours of your busy lives to be entertained.’
