November 24 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The magical season of Christmas kicks off in spectacular style in Redcar Town Centre on Sunday 24 November for the pantomime-themed Lights Switch On and Illumination Parade. Expect stunning visual displays, music, lights and all-around joy!

There will be performers and entertainers in the High Street from 12 noon, a musical main stage programme hosted by BBC Tees’ Scott Makin from 3pm and Illumination Parade from 4.15pm.

Earlier in the day, there’ll be a chance to meet & greet Santa and Friends in his grotto near the Blue Clock – 12pm-3.30pm .

A festive street food market from 12-6pm will feature a range of artisan traders; there will be music from Fat Cat Brass and a whole host of community performers and a colourful collection of walkabout performers including illuminated stilt walkers, Christmas Fairies and Urban Kaos’ Groove Mission Christmas.

The Illumination Parade will leave the Civic Centre at 4.15pm and process through the town. Look out for Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell as well as over 200 participants from schools and community groups who will throng the streets with artwork, lanterns and costumes created with artists to light up the route.

And if that wasn’t enough, the stage will be full of entertainment and performance before the light switch on at 5.45pm. This event is BSL interpreted.
