Yorkshire Fossil Festival

Yorkshire Fossil Festival

The Yorkshire Fossil Festival is northern England’s biggest annual celebration of fossils, palaeontology, and Earth science. We are celebrating our 10th birthday this year by bringing the show to the seaside in Redcar!

The Yorkshire Fossil Festival is a blend of entertainment and education and has engaged thousands of people from across the UK with Yorkshire’s amazing rocks and fossils, as well as with nature, landscapes and Earth heritage more broadly. By pairing jugglers with geologists and singers with scientists, we offer a unique mix of STEAM-powered creativity. Whether you’re a palaeontological professional or a fossil first-timer, you’ll find that the festival is a weekend of Fossils, Friends and Fun!

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th May

With performances, workshops, educators and entertainers, the Yorkshire Fossil Festival will be bringing all things fossiliferous to Redcar over the late May bank holiday weekend. Join us and our friends from across the UK as we show off our best fossils, tell our worst dinosaur jokes, and learn how to juggle geologically. If you’ve ever made a fossil discovery, and wondered what it was, our experts will be on hand to help. And if you’ve never made a fossil discovery, now’s your chance to find out how!

Monday 27th May – The Fossil Festival Field Day

To finish our 10th birthday weekend in style, we’ll be offering a variety of fossil-flavoured field trips in Redcar & Cleveland and beyond. From discovering devils’ toenails (Jurassic oysters) on Redcar Rocks, to exploring some of Yorkshire’s amazing ancient landscapes, there will something for everyone, from fossil first-timers to palaeontological professionals.

The Yorkshire Fossil Festival takes place on Majuba Beach and the surrounding area from 11am – 5pm.
