#FridayFive

It’s #FridayFive – our roundup of five great things happening in #OurRedcarCleveland each week!

1. Teesside Live pulled out all the stops with this great piece from Dave Robson about South Gare.

2. Wouldn’t normally include a meeting in our roundup of great things in the week but  we had the pleasure of catching up with them East Cleveland Big Local team behind the upcoming East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix. One of the region’s premier cycling races, and part of British Cycling’s Spring season, the race returns on Sunday 14 April and is going to be bigger and better than ever.

3. An inspiring story from one of our Ambassadors – actor and singer Joanna Andrews who runs the successful Charm Productions, will soon be donating a kidney to her sister Rebecca.
The in-demand TV and movie actor has featured in hits Call the Midwife and The Lady in the Van and also the main carer to her mum. A truly inspirational local star, Joanna even finds the time to be a Redcar | Cleveland Ambassador. We don’t know who she does it all, but we’re thrilled that she does!

We wish Joanna and Rebecca the best of luck for the future.

4. We were treated to a sneak preview of the brilliant Steel Stories exhibition. Currently being installed at Kirkleatham Museum, Steel Stories tells the tale of our steel and industrial heritage. Opening on Friday 5 April, this interactive exhibition is a must.

5. BAFTA recognition for The Mighty Redcar.
Well done to all who worked on The Mighty Redcar – the show received a well earned BAFTA nomination for Photography: Factual. Fingers crossed for a win when the awards are handed out on 28 April.
