Set up in Guisborough in 2011, this family ran business was then and remains today the only manufacturer of oak fire place beams in the north of England. Over the last 7 years the business has developed a solid reputation for manufacturing high quality products and have expanded their portfolio to now include bespoke shelves and handmade furniture.

Freddie Armstrong Managing Director has built up a strong relationship with the Business Growth Team and regularly meets up to discuss their growth plans and the local business support offer available. Freddie accessed  £28,500 from the SSI Capital Grant Scheme with assistance from the Business Growth Team, which helped the business fund a £95k investment, to construct  a new 3,550 sq ft  manufacturing unit on site at Margrove Park in East Cleveland.

Traditional Beams now employ 7 people and Freddie is keen to grow the business further.  Following a recent introduction by the Business Growth Team to Tees Valley Business Compass Traditional Beams are now progressing a further expansion plan to build another new 5,000 sq ft facility to provide a customer showroom, staff facilities and additional storage space. An introduction to Digital City last month could potentially provide support to explore how Traditional Beams can digitise their business for the future.

Freddie confirmed it’s good to know that the Business Growth Team are only a phone call away should we require assistance.  David is very pro-active in directing support providers our way when he feels we will benefit from their services’
