Rural England Prosperity Fund

The Rural England Prosperity Fund is a government fund that has been developed to provide further support to rural areas and address the unique challenges they face. This will be achieved through the delivery of capital grants to fund suitable projects for the purposes of supporting the local economy and communities.

The second funding round has now launched, specifically with the aim to support rural communities via local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities.

Are you a community organisation looking for capital funding to bring a project to life that would benefit your rural community in Redcar & Cleveland? If so, this could help.

The Rural Fund provides capital grants of between £3k and £15k for local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities.

In Tees Valley, the Rural Fund can only be used to finance capital projects in defined eligible rural areas of Redcar and Cleveland.

The total funding available in this funding round is £134,053.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council

Guisborough Commercial Grant Scheme

As part of the government’s Levelling Up Fund, £600,000 has been allocated to be spent on shop front improvements in Guisborough, enhancing the town’s heritage and add to the visitor and cultural offer.

Business owners in commercial properties on Bakehouse Square, Chaloner Street, Chaloner Mews, Market Place, Westgate, Bow Street and Fountain Street will be able to apply for grant funding to help bring buildings back in line with heritage standards. This means improvements could be made to windows, doors, facades, shop frontages, signage and decoration, all designed to similar traditional appearances.

If a business owner is thinking of applying, match funding will be required which means owners are expected to put forward some of their own investment in addition to what they’ll receive from the Levelling Up Fund.

Grants will only be provided for applications that meet eligibility requirements. Tenants of commercial properties can apply but will require signed consent from their landlord.

Expressions of Interest are currently being taken. For more information, please email placeinvestment@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk
